Consistency and Standards

In comparison to Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh based software, there are few suggested standards for X-Windows based software, unless you are developing for the KDE  or GNOME  desktop environments. So, where appropriate, the guidelines for Microsoft Windows applications were followed. This included items such as hot-keys and menu layouts. In this sense, the interface behaves in a ``standard'' manner.
